Itinerary
Day 0: October 8th - Departure From the U.S.
This evening, we will depart the U.S. by taking an overnight flight to the United Kingdom. Be sure to arrive at the airport 3 hours prior to departure.

Day 1: October 9th - Welcome to the UK! Exploring Somerset and Bath
This morning we land into London, Heathrow, collect our bags, and proceed to the arrivals hall where we will be greeted by our driver guide. Once the group is assembled, we board our coach as we drive south towards Wales. We will stop en route for a full English breakfast, as we make our way southwest. Our first activity of the tour will be a stop at the beautiful city of Bath and Guided tour of the Roman Baths. Constructed in around 70AD the Roman Baths is one of the best-preserved Roman remains in the world. We’ll explore the site of extensive ruins and visit the interactive museum that is filled with many treasures and visual snippets that will transport us back to Roman times.
After our visit we will cross the impressive Severn Bridge and enter Wales/Cymru, shortly arriving into the capital city of Cardiff and our centrally located hotel.

Day 2: October 10th - Cardiff Culture & Castle Day and Performance 1
After a delicious Welsh breakfast of maybe Laverbread and cockles, we will begin our day exploring this capital city. We’ll start with the ‘jewel in the crown’ a guided visit to Cardiff Castle which is one of Wales’s leading heritage attractions and a site of international significance. We will discover a story 2,000 years in the making. From the Roman occupation of Britain to the Norman Conquest, through civil war turbulence, a Victorian transformation and even the terrors of World War 2, these walls have seen it all.
After enjoying refreshments and Welsh cakes in one of seven Victorian and Edwardian arcades we’ll head out to Cardiff Bay. ‘The Bay’s industrial heritage is rich and complex, stemming from its role as one of the major coal exporting ports in the World. The area has now developed as a vibrant, multicultural community, transforming it into Europe’s largest waterfront development with the creation of a freshwater lake. We will visit The Senedd, home of the Welsh Parliament and hear how Wales became a devolved nation in 1997.
This evening, we will take a trip west to the village of Skewen RFC for our first musical performance. No pressure Tom, but Skewen is the birthplace of internationally successful singer Bonnie Tyler! Maybe we could also enjoy a local Male Voice Choir to accompany Tom!

Day 3: October 11th - South Wales
After breakfast, we journey deep into the Brecon Beacons National Park, now referred to by the Welsh language name of ‘Bannau Brycheiniog’. After refreshments in the local market town of Abergavenny we’ll head out to explore the story of Wales’ Industrial Heritage at the Big Pit National Coal Museum, a real coal mine and one of Britain’s leading mining museums. We’ll finish the day with a group photo stop at a waterfall viewpoint before reaching Penderyn Distillery for a guided tour and a taste of their award-winning single malt.
For our last evening in ‘Cymru’ we will be entertained by The Spirit of Wales for an evening of Welsh local dishes, music, culture and humor.
Overnight in Cardiff in 4-star city center hotel – Welsh farewell evening with dinner.

Day 4: October 12th - Delights of Devon
Following breakfast this morning, we will depart Cymru for Devon, heading further south and cross back into England. The scenic drive will take us through the Wye Valley, which is a dedicated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB). In the midst of this countryside, we will stop for a visit to Tintern Abbey, a Welsh national icon, still standing in roofless splendor on the banks of the River Wye after 500 years. We’ll stop for a late lunch in Exeter, a cathedral city with a rich and long history that pre-dates the arrival of the Romans in AD 50.
The end of the days sees us reaching our Devon destination of Torquay. Based in the ‘English Riviera’ it is so called because of the warm microclimate and the palm trees lining the roads. Torquay has been a popular destination since the Victorian era – which you can still see to this day with the grand hotels overlooking the beach.

Day 5: October 13th - Devon and Performance 2
After a hearty breakfast, we will enjoy a scenic drive through Dartmoor National Park, visiting Castle Drogo and Widecombe-in-the-Moor. This afternoon we’ll try our first Devon Cream Tea experience at a traditional tearoom, where the Devonians will tell us it’s cream first and jam on top!
Performance 1 – to be discussed with Tom.

Day 6: October 14th - Devon to Cornwall
This morning, we will depart Devon for Cornwall, breaking up the journey with a stop at Tintagel Castle Visitor Centre. Here we will learn about the legend of King Arthur, with an optional cliff path walk. After lunch at Tintagel or a nearby seaside town, we will press on to our final trip location of Falmouth, enjoying the pleasant scenic coast drive.
Overnight in Cornwall in 4-star city hotel – Dinner on own

Day 7: October 15th - West Cornwall Wonders
This day starts with a scenic bus trip through the Cornish countryside learning about Cornish mining, fishing, and legends as we enjoy the views. We’ll then arrive at Marazion, soft sandy beaches, places to eat, drink, stay & shop and the home of St Michael’s Mount. We’ll enjoy the breath-taking view across the causeway to St Michael’s Mount and this incredible photo opportunity. Then we’ll cross to St Michael’s Mount to explore. If tide is low, we’ll walk across the cobbled causeway. If tide is high, we’ll take the short boat shuttle. On the Mount there is a medieval castle, Subtropical gardens, 12th Century Church and shops and cafes run by the island community. After lunch we will take the Scenic coastal drive to Porthcurno, with a quick photo stop at Newlyn Harbour (famous for fishing). Depending on accessibility of the group we’ll visit Minack Theatre – a dramatic open-air theatre carved into a cliff overlooking the sea.
Our final stop of the day is to taste a Cornish Cream Tea at a traditional Cornish tearoom for scones, clotted cream, jam, and tea. Remember it’s jam first, then cream in Cornwall!

Day 8: October 16th - The Eden Project and Performance 3
Today we will head to one of the most famous visitor attractions in Cornwall. The Eden Project is located in a reclaimed china clay pit and celebrates plants and the natural world, reconnecting people with them and working to regenerate damaged landscape.
On arriving at the Eden Project, we’ll enjoy a guided tour of the Rainforest and Mediterranean Biomes, then enjoy Lunch at the Eden Kitchen or on the Mediterranean Terrace. We’ll explore the Outdoor Gardens. As we make our way back to Falmouth we’ll stop at Par, Tucked between the bustling harbor town of Fowey and the market town of St Austell. Par Market is one of the UK’s largest indoor markets for local crafts and souvenirs and a perfect stop at the end of our last day.
Performance 3 – to be discussed with Tom.

Day 9: October 17th - Almost heading home
This morning we say goodbye to our Celtic Cornish coast and make out way north to London and Heathrow. This will be approx. 5 – 6hours.
We suggest either breaking the journey with a stop in Salisbury for a leg stretch and a quick visit to the famous Salisbury Cathedral – or even a longer stop at Stonehenge. Both are about 3.5 hrs from Falmouth)
Overnight at LHR airport hotel

Day 10: October 18th - Return to the U.S.
With bags packed, enjoy breakfast and head for the airport where we will board our flight home. Carry on our photos and memories of those Celtic Cousins from Cymru, Devon and Cornwall home with us.
