Itinerary

DAY 1 – Oct, 1st

Depart the USA – JFK/NEWARK

Depart the United States and begin your journey to Budapest.

DAY 2 – Oct, 2nd

 

BUDAPEST, HUNGARY

Arrive in Budapest and transfer to the port where you board your luxurious river cruise ship.

DAY 3 – Oct, 3rd

BUDAPEST

Budapest offers an unmatched combination of culture and tradition. Your city tour begins with a visit to the Great Market Hall before going to both the Buda (hilly) and the Pest (flat) sides of the river. You’ll see Heroes’ Square and Castle Hill, home to the Fisherman’s Bastion and Mattias Church. As an alternative, you can hike up to Castle Hill for breathtaking views of the city below.
DAY 4 – Oct, 4th
BRATISLAVA, SLOVAKIA
Host to the crowning ceremonies of 11 Hungarian kings and queens between 1536 and 1830, Bratislava certainly has earned the title “Coronation City of Kings,” as you’ll discover during your walking tour. Or join a special “Tastes of Slovakia” tour. For a more active adventure, hike up to Bratislava Castle, offering magnificent views of the city.

 DAY 5 – Oct, 5th

VIENNA, AUSTRIA
The “City of Waltzes” offers a wealth of gems and your city tour showcases its regal splendors, including the majestic Opera House and the former Imperial Palace of the Habsburgs. Conclude your tour in Vienna’s historic city center and then visit St. Stephen’s Cathedral, or discover Vienna by bike. During the afternoon, enjoy leisure time to further explore this iconic city.

DAY 6 – Oct, 6th

WEISSENKIRCHEN – GREIN
Take a walking tour of Dürnstein before visiting the UNESCO-designated Melk Abbey. For a more culinary-focused experience, join a walking tour in Dürnstein, then enjoy a wine tasting hosted by a local vintner and sample special apricot treats from a local boutique. If you prefer a more active adventure, hike up to the fortress where Richard the Lionheart was once held. Later in the day, sail through the Strudengau Valley to medieval Grein for an exclusive visit to the more than 500-year-old Greinburg Castle, looming regally from above.
DAY 7 – Oct, 7th
LINZ, AUSTRIA
The ship arrives in Linz where you’ll have several choices of excursions. Opt for a full-day excursion to Salzburg where you’ll tour the historic center, Mirabell Gardens, Residenz Square and the Old Market. End route to Salzburg, stop at Mondsee, home of the Basilica St. Michael. Or join a morning walking tour through the old city center of Linz and by the Mozart House; or go on a bike tour of the city’s famed “Cultural Mile” and the Danube. During the afternoon, you can also choose to visit charming Český Krumlov, located just over the Czech-Austrian border.
DAY 8 – Oct, 8th
PASSAU, GERMANY – VILSHOFEN
Discover the city of Passau in one of three ways. Enjoy a walking tour and marvel at Gothic and Italian Baroque architecture and St. Stephen’s Cathedral. Alternately, choose between a guided hike up to the Veste Oberhaus fortress or a guided bike tour along the River Inn. Later, cruise to Vilshofen, where you will be treated to a festive Oktoberfest celebration— an AmaWaterways

DAY 9 – Oct, 9th

VILSHOFEN – CRUISE ENDS AND POST CRUISE BEGINS
Today your magical journey on the water ends as you disembark after breakfast in Vilshofen. Your Tour Guide will meet your group at the Cruise terminal and escort you to a private coach.  Depart for your post cruise visit to Munich. Visit Regensburg’s UNESCO listed alstadt which survived WWII. Charming buildings and cobblestone streets are sure to delight you as you stroll through the center. After you will enjoy lunch at a local restaurant in Regensburg and once finished we will board our coach again and head south to Munich. Later in the evening after check-in you are free. Dinner is on own tonight.

DAY 10 – Oct, 10th

MUNICH, GERMANY

After  breakfast your guide will meet you and your group in the hotel lobby to provide a full-day tour. Along the way see major sights such as Isartor, Viktualienmarkt, Karlsplatz, Nymphenburg, Olympic Stadium and many more. Nymphenburg is a summer residence to the former rulers of Bavaria and one of the most beautifully designed Baroque palaces still in existance. We then will take a stroll through old town so we can see the famous Rathaus Glochenspiel and have some free time for lunch. Dinner is own your own tonight.

DAY 11 – Oct, 11th

MUNICH, GERMANY
Once you meet your guide today you will make your way to the Neushwanstein Castle. One of the most famous castles in the world and the main inspiration behind many fairytales, including the Disney Castle. Continue on and stop to explore the quaint town of Oberammergau, home of the passion play preformed every 10 years by the town.  We enjoy a farewell dinner together at a local restaurant.

DAY 12 – Oct, 12th

MUNICH, GERMANY

This morning bid farewell to Munich as you travel to the airport and return home.
