Day 1: April 27th – Departure Date

Tonight you will board your transatlantic flight to Palermo, Italy.

Day 2: April 28th – Palermo

This afternoon you will arrive in Sicily; after collecting your bags we will board our private coach to our hotel in the city center of Palermo. This Sicilian city is celebrated for its dynamic mix of architectural styles from Byzantine to Baroque, which you can admire on your way to the hotel. After checking in, there will be time to relax and freshen up. Tonight, as a group there will be a welcome reception and dinner at our hotel.

Day 3: April 29th -Palermo

CLE Attendees:

This morning after a delicious Sicilian breakfast, the lawyers will head out for the Continued Learning Education Program Meeting from 9am-12pm. (location and final time to be announced)

NON-CLE Attendees: The morning is free for you! Enjoy a cappuccino on the hotel veranda or set out on your own to explore the beautiful city of Palermo.

Afternoon Tour for all Attendees: After a delicious Italian lunch on your own, the group will enjoy a lovely city tour of Palermo, Italy. On the tour we will be immersed in historical sites, and stories of Palermo. We will explore numerous sites, including the breathtaking Cathedral of Palermo, one of the most important architectural monuments in Sicily. After we will journey to the Palazzo dei Normanni.

Here you will find elegant and opulent spaces, rooms filled with Arab-Norman mosaics, exquisitely carved columns, and the regal interior courtyard. Tonight, dinner will be on your own enjoy any of the fabulous Sicilian restaurants. Make sure you grab yourself at cannoli or arancini, two of Sicily’s most famous street foods!

Day 4: April 30th – Palermo

CLE Attendees: Enjoy another delicious Scillian breakfast before second meeting from 9am-12pm.

(Location and final time to be announced) Afterwards, grab a classic Scillian arancini for lunch before journey back to your hotel for another afternoon of sightseeing.

NON-CLE Attendees: After breakfast, the morning will be free for you. Relax at your fabulous hotel or explore the streets of Palermo. Grab lunch before our afternoon activity.

This afternoon we will visit Monreale, located outside of Palermo. The main sight is the Cathedral of Monreale , a place of historical and cultural interest and recently being added to the UNESCO World Heritage Site. There will also be time to explore the cathedral of Santa Maria Nuova is considered one of the most prominent medieval churches in the world. We will also tour the Benedictine Cloister which was part of a 13^th century monastery. Afterwards, we will journey back to Palermo, here we will have time to freshen up for a night of classic Sicilian entertainment and dinner at a nearby Villa.

Day 5: May 1st- Palermo to Taormina

This morning, you will depart from Palermo and journey east to the ancient city of Taormina. As you make your journey along the Sicilian coast, you will enjoy the views and history of the landscape. The first stop on your journey will be 50 miles east in the medieval town of Cefalu, known worldwide for the narrow streets and buildings with elaborate architectural decoration. You will be met by a tour guide for a tour of Cefalu. You will visit the Cefalu Cathedral (Duomo), which features the magnificent mosaics and the fishermen’s quarter makes for Kodak moments. We will have lunch at a nearby restaurant before continuing to Taormina. Once we arrive at our beautiful seaside hotel there will be time to relax. Tonight, we will have another magnificent group meal at our hotel.

Day 6: May 2nd – Taormina

This morning after breakfast, we will take a tour of the beautiful hilltop town Taormina, perched on a rocky headland high above the sea. A local guide will meet you and take you on a tour of Taormina. One of the highlights includes a visit to the Ancient Amphitheater of Taormina, the most fascinating historical monument in the pearl of the Ionian Sea. It was born to accommodate dramatic performances or musical, it was transformed during Roman times to make rooms for games and gladiatorial battles. After we will journey back to the hotel. The rest of the day is yours, relax by the pool along the Mediterranean, or continue exploring at your leisure. Tonight, dinner will be on your own.

Day 7: May 3rd – Mount Etna (all group)

This morning after breakfast, we will journey to the mighty Mount Etna, the highest and largest active volcano in Europe. The elevation is about 10,000 feet! Your tour will allow you to see the opening of the lava flow, visiting Etna’s main craters’ views, and taking in the amazing sceneries from the cable car. Along with taking a few pictures and simply admiring the landscape as from up there you can see the coast of Taormina! Next, you will enjoy a tour, tasting, and a 3-course lunch/dinner at a local Mt. Etna winery. Full of rich tradition and culture, there are around 180 wineries in the area that date back to the 6^th century BC. Due to the volcanic soil and high altitudes the nutrient within the soil is favorable for grape cultivation, creating the perfect pairing. We will journey back to Taormina where the rest of the day is free. Soak in the last of the Mediterranean and prepare to depart in the morning.

Day 8: May 4th- Depart Italy

This morning after our last Sicilian breakfast, we will board our coaches and journey south to Catania where you will board your flight and begin your journey back to the USA.

• Join your friends in Palermo and bid them
  “arriverderici” when they depart for Taormina
