Itinerary

Day 0: July 18th - Depart USA for Ireland

Tonight, you will board your transatlantic overnight flight to Dublin, Ireland

 

Day 1: July 19th - Welcome to Ireland: Dublin to Inishowen

This morning, after passing through passport control and collecting our luggage, we will be greeted by our private coaches for the journey north to Inishowen. Our first stop will be for a traditional Irish breakfast to kickstart the day. We will then continue on to County Tyrone and visit the Ulster American Folk Park to stretch our legs and enjoy lunch. This open-air museum tells the story of Ulster people’s emigration to North America in the 18th and 19th centuries. Learn more about lives left behind and maybe some personal family history. After the visit, we will resume our journey towards InishowenAfter checkin, we‘ll have some time to relax before enjoying a delicious dinner at our hotel.

Day 2: July 20th - Exploring Derry

This morning after a hearty Irish breakfast, we will board our private coach and journey to Derry. Once we arrive there will be a walking tour of the city. The tour will take us around the Walls of Derry – revealing a splendid city crammed full of history, heritage, and a vibrant cultural scene.  This is the only remaining completely walled city in Ireland and one of the finest examples of Walled Cities in Europe. Next, we will journey to Guildhall, a historic cultural center in Derry. Over its 120-year history, the hall has been destroyed twice. First in a fire and the second during a bomb attack in 1972. The Guildhall is a testimony to the resilience and determination of the people and this city.  Afterward, we will return to our hotel in Inishowen.

Day 3: July 21st - Inishowen Peninsula

This morning after breakfast, we will tour the Inishowen Peninsula, where our very own Declan was born! Pushing out into the Atlantic, Inishowen is the largest peninsula in Ireland. Enjoy the scenic views of the endless ocean, green hills, and picturesque villages in County Donegal. We will visit the Doagh Famine Museum and continue to Farren’s Pub in Malin Head for a pint. This will be followed by a journey back to the hotel to prepare for dinner and a Devri performance at the hotel.

Day 4: July 22nd - Inishowen to Westport

This morning after breakfast we will bid farewell to Derry and journey west across Ireland to Westport. On our way, we will stop at the Atlantic Sheepdogs, a world-renowned demonstration. The border collies will captivate you with their display of teamwork as they herd sheep along the Wild Atlantic. We will have time to explore this picturesque town before continuing to Westport. Once we check into our hotel, there will be time to freshen up before having dinner as a group.

Day 5: July 23rd - Westport & Achill Island

After a hearty Irish breakfast, we can spend the day exploring Westport and all of its offerings. Alternatively, we have the option to board our private coach to Achill Island. Some of the roads that follow the coastline of Achill boast some of the most spectacular views of the area known as ‘The Atlantic Drive’.  We will also see the Deserted Village – a reminder of the 1840s Famine, consisting of 80-100 stone cottages located along a mile stretch of road on the southern slopes of Slievemore Mountain. Sit back and take in the magnificent scenery – mountains, lakes, and miles of rugged coastline with refreshing Atlantic Sea breezes. After we will journey back towards Westport. Once we arrive back at our hotel, the afternoon is yours to explore at your leisure. Enjoy the pubs, craft shops, and food in Westport before another performance tonight!

Day 6: July 24th - Westport to Galway

After breakfast, we will depart from Westport and visit Cong, a scenic village in the heart of Irelands lake district famous for The Quiet Man movie starring John Wayne and Maureen O’Hara. This beloved classic, known for its stunning landscapes and iconic romance, brought Cong to worldwide fame. We will have the chance to visit a replica of the cottage where it was filmed. Afterward, we will enjoy a cruise on Lough Corrib, taking in its beautiful scenery. Finally, we will continue to our hotel in Galway, where there will be time to freshen up before dinner as a group at our hotel.

Day 7: July 25th - Galway

After a hearty Irish breakfast, enjoy Galway City and everything it has to offer! Journey down bustling streets, check out any of the wonderful restaurants or relax with the locals at a nearby pub, there is much to see! Tonight, we will have our final performance.

Day 8: July 26th - Depart back to the USA

This morning, we will board our private coach to Shannon Airport to board our transatlantic flight back to the USA.
