Just returning to the office from a simply amazing weekend in Dublin for the Dropkick Murphys Dublin Fan Package, we recap the memories, laughs and adventures when the boys shipped back to iconic Dublin…
The Boys Are Back and the only thing they were looking for was a good time! The Dropkicks certainly delivered for our VIP group of special fans who traveled from everywhere from the United States to Australia for this exclusive fan package!
The backstage VIP bar sums it up. The Dropkick Murphys – probably the best in the world? According to Cara Group Travel and the masses at Iveagh Gardens on Sunday July 16th – we’d have to unanimously agree.
Exclusive early access to The Iveagh Gardens for a pre-show party was the perfect way to start an amazing day and performances by The Fratellis and The Dropkicks. As the boys say: We all had a good time and we’re sad to see it end, Good luck be with you, you go your way, I’ll go mine, So until the next time it’s farewell and not goodbye!
Meanwhile in Dublin…
Summer in Dublin – you just don’t know what is around the corner. Murals like this one for Ulysses by Irish writer James Joyce seem more vibrant, city streets radiate a good time vibe with shops, bars and restaurants and when the sun does eventually come out, you have to cool down somehow!
The General Post Office (GPO) doubles as the headquarters for Irish Post and the symbol of the 1916 Rising and the events that led to the creation of an independent Irish state – oh if these walls could talk! The next best thing – The GPO Witness History Exhibition gives you a lesson in Irish history and an understanding as to the saying: Proud to be Irish.
Venturing out to The Docklands – you will find Epic Ireland, an interactive museum which tells the story of Irish Immigration and its impact here and further ashore. Suitably named, Epic is simply epic. It is also engrossing, emotional and empowering and you will come away with a bounce in your step along Dublin’s beautiful waterfront.
What to do on a sunny Sunday in Dublin: Hit the streets complete with their own Lynott-style buskers backing track to find bronzed nods to Irish excellence in music, art and literature, seek out the thankfully never ending celebrations in The Temple Bar or take in one of Ireland’s national sports, gaelic football and hurling, and enjoy the incomparable atmosphere.
And of course, Tyrone did win!
Like any trip, it is what you make it but Dublin makes it almost effortless to have a great time. Grab a city sightseeing tour, get to know the welcoming neighbors and of course, take a selfie or two – how else will people know you where here! Well actually, there is a good chance you will enjoy it that much – you may tell whoever will listen.
