Its hands down one of the most historical and largest wine regions in all of France.

3) Vienne, France

Vienne can be most described as an enriched historical city. With every step you take on its roads you are walking in the same place the Ancient Romans once did. Tour and see its marvelously preserved ruins and witness ancient buildings like; Augustus and Livia Temple, the Saint Maurice Cathedral, a Gothic church that took more than 500 years to build, and St. Pierre Abbey, (one of the oldest surviving churches in France).

Also in Vienne you can view its beauty by taking various walking/biking tours along many trails like the Monastery at Mount Pipet or ViaRhôna.

 

4) Avignon, France 

 

Avignon, named  “City of Popes,” was the center of the Catholic Church in the 14th century. This city is full of interesting history of the medieval times and delicious treats. Tour wonderful buildings like the Papal Palace and the well-preserved medieval walls surrounding its historic center. You can also visit three venues around Avignon to taste regional delicacies  including macarons, cheese and wine.

During you day, you can go to another World Heritage Site, the impressive Pont du Gard, a Roman aqueduct that is a masterpiece of ancient engineering. Lastly enjoy the magnificent hilltop village, Grignan and even see some cute dogs.
