Fancy a great night out with some board game fun and without the morning after feeling? Head to Dublin’s first no-alcohol bar.

Board is a new pub in Dublin’s city centre that offers an extensive range of non-alcoholic drinks together with over 200 board games that patrons can play for free.

The recently opened dry pub has become an instant hit with locals and visitors alike and is filled nightly with people in high spirits, though not of the 40% proof kind.

The idea behind Board is to create a space that has the look and feel of a modern Irish pub but without the alcohol. It stocks premium 0% beers, a wide range of alcohol-free craft beers and, of course, has the famous ‘black stuff’ Guinness 0.0 on draught.

Board also offers an impressive mocktail list mimicking favourite classics such as Espresso Martinis Aperol Spritzs and Bloody Marys and over 30 non-alcoholic spirits. A menu of Mood Boosters made with a natural mix of botanicals, herbs, spices or mushrooms are designed to sooth or stimulate as required, and the non-alcoholic wines available include Irish-owned Hollow Leg, produced in Spain.

To complement the drinks menu there is a food menu available all day offering tasty meals and sweet treats, with vegan options. From 4pm Board offers homemade pizzas.

Dublin is a city with a thriving pub scene and is renowned for the ‘craic’ to be found in its cosy bars and cosmopolitan clubs. Board adds another dimension to this with a space to meet, eat and play without involving alcohol.

The Friendship Four is an NCAA hockey tournament that is hosted by The Belfast Giants. The tournament is held during Thanksgiving Weekend at the SSE Arena Belfast in Belfast, Northern Ireland. The winner for the tournament fights for the Belpot Trophy.

The Friendship Four invites, Boston University, Harvard, Merrimack College and Notre Dame to fight for the Bellpot this 2024 Thanksgiving Weekend.

The history behind the tournament:

The Belfast Giants was formed in 2000. They are the only professional hockey team in Ireland and compete in UK’s Elite Ice Hockey League.

May of 2014 the cities of Boston and Belfast signed an agreement to become sister cities. This was to help boost and develop tourism, economic growth, and cultural ties.

2015 the first Friendship Four was held. The Friendship Four was inspired by the Beanpot tournament in Boston. The Beanpot is an annual tournament with four teams from the Boston Area; Boston College, Boston University, Harvard and North Eastern.

Lindsay Lohan’s latest movie, Irish Wish, takes her character and the viewer to some of Ireland’s most beautiful locations.

A new romcom from Netflix, described as a “story of luck and love and confidence”, mixes Irish whimsy, Hollywood star power and the gorgeous backdrop of scenic Ireland.

Irish Wish tells the story of a bridesmaid who, a few days before her friend’s wedding, wishes she were the bride, only to wake up next day as the bride-to-be. But she then realises who her real soulmate is.

The movie was shot in several locations across Ireland including Dublin, where the vibrant Temple Bar area stood in for New York.

The beautiful landscape of County Wicklow in Ireland’s Ancient East also featured and the imposing Killruddery House makes an appearance. The magnificent manor has a 400-year history and has been used as a filming location for many movies and TV series including Excalibur, The Tudors, Angela’s Ashes, Camelot, Becoming Jane, Ella Enchanted and The Count of Monte Cristo.

Another super scenic spot that makes it into the movie is Lough Tay, also known as the Guinness Lake. The lake is located on land owned by the Guinness family in the Wicklow Mountains and is edged on one side with white sand to resemble a pint of the ‘black stuff’. It can be clearly seen on a drive through the Sally Gap, widely regarded as one of the most scenic drives on the island of Ireland.

Irish Wish also includes scenes shot on the other side of the island on the Wild Atlantic Way, including at the stunning Cliffs of Moher, one of Ireland’s top visitor attractions.

Lohan stars alongside Ed Speleers, Alexander Vlahos, Ayesha Curry, Elizabeth Tan, Jacinta Mulcahy, and Jane Seymour in the movie.

Irish Wish will be released on Netflix on 15 March, just in time for St Patrick’s Day.
